WHO WE ARE
The Fennville Training Facility was constructed in 1980, and has trained hundreds of Union Carpenter and Millwright apprentices in Southwestern Michigan. Millwright apprentices attend school in a "block training" format, attending for one week at a time, five times per year. Millwright apprentices must complete a total of 800 hours of related training over four years.
To provide the union construction industry with highly skilled individuals capable of completing their projects in the most cost efficient manner while providing motivated individuals the knowledge, skills and benefits necessary to provide stability for themselves and their families.
Credits earned during this comprehensive four-year program are transferable to most universities offering construction management degrees. We also offer a variety of Millwright and Carpentry skill advancement classes available to UBC journeypersons designed to keep pace with new developments in tools, materials, and technical information.
The Fennville Training Program is designed to develop skilled Millwright and Carpenter journeypersons. The program consists of a four-year course of practical on-the-job training, supplemented by attendance one week every quarter at the Fennville Training Center.
During the apprenticeship term, the apprentice is paid an ascending scale of wages ranging from approximately 65 percent of the journeyperson's scale when training begins to 95 percent during the final period of apprenticeship. In addition, they also receive pension, and insurance benefits.
Application to the Fennville Millwright Training program can be done via email or phone at any time. We have the Millwright entrance test twice a year, once in January and once in July.
